Aviation expert Robert Donald joins Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP as Counsel

Calgary, Alberta,. Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), one of Canada's leading business and litigation law firms, announced today that Robert Donald has joined the Firm as Counsel. Mr. Donald, who served as General Counsel of the International Air Transport Association for 10 years, will advise Fraser Milner Casgrain's diverse client base on federal and Québec legal matters related to international aviation, national and international commercial transactions, and litigation management. He will be based in FMC's Calgary office.

"Aviation is a complex and multifaceted industry that requires special legal expertise in a multitude of areas, including asset-based financing, purchasing and leasing of aviation-related equipment, insolvency matters, regulatory issues and aviation claims," says Michel Brunet, FMC's Chair and Chief Executive Officer.  "Robert's vast experience in all of these significant legal matters will be a tremendous asset to our aviation practice and to our multi-disciplinary teams in ensuring that our clients achieve the best results possible. We are truly honoured to welcome counsel of Robert's stature and reputation to the FMC team."

Mr. Donald spent 10 years at the International Air Transport Association (IATA), working in both Geneva and Montréal.  Prior to joining IATA, he was a partner in a Montréal law firm. He is a member of the Québec Bar and a frequent speaker on international aviation.

"Robert's dynamic career in aviation, combined with his extensive and specialized knowledge of international aviation practices and policies, complements FMC's expertise in the aviation and travel industry and will be of great value to the practice as well as to our national and international clients," says Matthew Lindsay, Managing Partner, FMC Calgary.

Mr. Donald holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University in Montréal, a Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill University in Montréal, and a Post Graduate Diploma in European Union Competition Law from King's College in London, England.
