WINTER BREAK NAMED ONE OF NORTH AMERICA'S TOP 100 EVENTS FOR 2006

Festival for Active Seniors in Laughlin, Nevada, January 6 to12, 2006

TORONTO: Give me a break! Winter Break, that is &endash; a festival for the 50-plus age group, mirroring a typical Spring break for the kids, relived a few decades later. Winter Break has received recognition as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2006 by the American Bus Association (ABA). This is the second consecutive year that Winter Break has been selected for this honour, offering excellent entertainment value to both tour groups and individual travellers from around the world. Inclusion in the Top 100 list is published in a supplement to the September issue of Destinations magazine.

This week-long festival gives active seniors a way to celebrate life without worry, along with several thousand others! Winter Break gives you a "Place to Act Your Age &endash; Give or Take 30 Years." Sue Arko, event promoter, says, "The week will be filled with a variety of events to fill each participant's day and to take their minds off the grind of everyday life. Our menu of activities is designed to marry the memories of high school and university life with the activities seniors across the country enjoy now."

In 2005, close to 4,000 guests (and a few hundred Canadians) attended the third annual Winter Break in Laughlin, Nevada. The website, www.WinterBreak.us, outlines the number of packages and has a detailed breakdown of all the events available for active seniors to participate in, including a classic car parade, baseball tournament, chili cook-off, Red Hat Society meetings, ballroom dancing, singles mixers, writing workshops, casino tournaments, and so much more.

General admission costs are $39 US (if paid by December 1, 2005) or $49 US (if paid after December 1, 2005). This fee entitles guests to a full week of official Winter Break activities. Optional day tours (to Arizona's Route 66, Oatman, and Lake Havasu) are also available for a small additional charge. Winter Break packages, including overnight in Las Vegas (and transportation to Laughlin), accommodations, and Winter Break activities range from $149-235 US, depending on type of package chosen.
