. Grand Forks, British Columbia Close to the U.S. border in BC's Kootenay Country, the town of Grand Forks is served by the Crowsnest Highway 3. Many of its residents are descendants of members of the Doukhobor religious sect which, seeking religious and social freedom in Canada, emigrated from Russia in the late 1800s. Several restaurants in the area are famous for their traditional Russian specialties.
