At a meeting in far off Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, chaired by Louis D'Amore of Stowe Vermont, founder of Peace Through Tourism, the focus was on International Peace Parks to be dedicated by his worldwide organization. Their next Global Summit is February 2003 in Geneva. I suggested that there would be no better site for such a Park than Canada's Peace River. Having visited the area many times, I can vouch for its appeal as a place than lives up to the name. The Peace River Alaska Highway Tourism Association has been a welcome supporter of our magazine and Supermap. We are proud to recommend the area to the many international visitors who request information from this web site.

In terms or recreation, these visitors will discover a variety of recreation areas and official parks in British Columbia's Peace River and Alaska Highway region. Some of the areas our editors and writers have visited most recently include:

MONKMAN PROVINCIAL PARK. 28 miles south of Tumbler Ridge. Home of Kinuseo Falls on the Murray River (see photos by Ken Bird).

MUNCHO LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK. East shore of Muncho Lake on the Alaska Highway, west of Fort Nelson. Watch for animals on the highway.
